Colonel Gaffneyis is visiting Fort William again, as part of their Celtic festival.
The Fort William staff treated us wonderfully well the last two years and have invited us to return on July 21-22, 2012. Not all of the Celtic Fair is about historic reenactment, but Fort William itself is steeped in history, the site is extensive and well supported, and the folk peopling the fort do first-person interpretation. Our Head Campfollower has already sent out calls and passport reminders. If you are wondering whether it's worth the drive, I think everyone who went last year or the year before will tell you YES.
We'll meet in early July to plan the logistics. Watch your e-mail for time and place.
The trailer will make the trip north only if many more people sign up to go; otherwise, we'll parcel out the regiment's gear among private vehicles, so if you are attending, please have your household represented at the planning meeting. There is more information on the festival at here, or just start at Fort William's main Web site (http://fwhp.ca/index.php), and follow the link from festivals and events on the right-hand side of the page to the Celtic Fair. See Travel Information, with a map to the Fort from the Twin Cities. Join us!.

Items must be received by the 15th of each month to be considered for inclusion for the upcoming months issue. Mailed submissions will not be returned unless requested. All pertinent submissions will be considered as space permits. All research articles must reference at least three sources. Submissions may be broken in multiple parts.
Deadline for articles to go in the August newsletter will be the 15th of July.
Present were Bruce, Mary, Karen, Mia, David, Laura, and Anthea. Vice President will take edits from David for new flyer; Mia says she has edits and will forward them. Mary can either print a proof or print all the trifolds and would like to be reimbursed for ink in this case. Our goal for flyers is CONvergence so we can have them on the freebie table. Treasurer; we had two expenses for April. We have joined the Living History Association and gotten our insurance. Secretary had no report. Quartermaster has started kiddie muskets. We have lots of match. Reps: Laura has passed on an issue to Anthea. Company Rep will give a presentation on things we can say in camp to the public. Anthea cannot provide a site for Sword Drill. Looks like it will be at Elizabeth's. The Quartermaster has been directed to obtain a Muster site. Mia is to find out about the Irish Fair. We discussed how to present ourselves to appeal to this event. Mia is to follow up with Woodville about the rest of our money. We thought it would be good to start sending thank you notes to events. Mia will be in charge of this. Anthea can get us a recommendation from the Woodville history teacher if we are talking to another school. Mia is to ask Lisa about the Bagpipes and Bonfires event planned by All Saint's Episcopal Stillwater. Mia is to email Perry about contract for Big Island. Mia is to find out particulars for Mankato. Old Business: Musket and accoutrements have arrived from John! New Business: We discussed Thank You notes. We are going to ask the Seward Co-op about Samhain and Mayday. Dues and Events: Anthea will publish a list of attendees before events and keep a list of who actually shows up so we know who needs to pay their dues. We want to put the whole issue of Dues on the agenda for the next Members' meeting which will be on August 4th at Yoders; time noon. Next meeting Tuesday June 19th at Mary's office; seven pm.
I. Fort William. We'll combine the July 12 staff meeting with a logistics planning meeting. (Calls have since gone out on the members' email list.) II. Equipment A. Trailer Marty, who hauled it for both the Siege of Woodville and the fair in Farmington, says it travels well. (His adapter needed replacing; that was the reason the lights weren't working properly.) He has yet to finish making new straps for one side. B. Canvas Many repairs noted at Farmington in 2011 were noted again in 2012. Twin City Tent and Awning (just north of University, a little east of 280) and Thrifty Outfitters (above Midwest Mountaineering in Cedar-Riv) can handle these. There will be about two months without events between Fort William and Hudson. Ropes should be matched to the tents. Marty will haul the trailer to his property and we'll take measurements, tentatively at the August staff meeting. Besides replacing all the ropes, we should replace the sliders with hardwood dowels, painted so as to identify the corresponding tent. C. Maintenance and Repair Kit Revisions were made to the list. Before we buy anything, we should take a good look at the contents of the modern toolbox. Marty will check with Jamie about sources of beeswax.
If you need to contact someone associated with Clann Tartan, here is where you find out how. If you are unsure who to contact, you can always email us at: info at clanntartan dot org

The Dance Guild gathers weekly from 7PM-9PM to learn and practice historic Scottish country dances.
Because the Lake Hiawatha Neighborhood Center is closed, Dance Guild will not meet on Wednesdays during the summer.
Saint Christopher's Episcopal Church, 2300 N Hamline Ave. in Roseville.
It is at the northeast corner of Highway 36 and Hamline Avenue (Hamline is between Snelling and Lexington). The church is actually encircled by the highway entrance ramp. You may have heard of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Think of this as St. Christopher's-in-the-Cloverleaf :-)>
For more information call:

Be sure to contact your staff if you plan on attending a show event. Try to give at least a ten day notice when possible. This allows proper planning for the feeding of our members, and in some cases is required by event organizers to allow entry as a participant.
You can call any of the staff members listed, or send an email to staff at clanntartan.org.

Hello all,
The following is a list of the dates of the events that are currently on the schedule for this year. The staff has met and decided to keep this running list of events in the newsletter to give you a chance to get an idea of what is going on this season as well as keep you updated to changes in the schedule.
The column titled status will include the following information.
Tentative- this means that an event organizer or Clann has expressed a strong enough interest in doing this event that it warrants reserving space on the calendar for the event.
Pending- this is the next stage of an event. This means that the Contracts Administrator has entered serious discussion about Clann doing an event but we are still not committed to the event. You should however if possible think about whether or not you may be able to attend this event.
Scheduled- this level means that the board and staff have approve the event and we are committed to providing manpower to making the event happen. When an event is assigned this level please let the HCF know as soon as possible if you can or can not attend this event.
Canceled- This means that for various reasons an scheduled event has been removed from the current season. We will try and give as much notice as we can prior to canceling an event.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact staff regarding this matter
Thanks,
Your Staff
